About Scabblesque
Why this site exists
Scabblesque started as a simple question during a family game night: given these seven tiles and a double-word square in reach, what is the single highest-scoring word I can play? Working it out by hand is slow and error-prone. The Score Optimizer does the arithmetic instantly so you can spend your energy learning the patterns instead of counting tiles.
What we care about
- Correctness. The scoring rules — tile values, letter and word multipliers, the seven-tile bonus, and zero-point blanks — are implemented exactly as they work at the table.
- Speed and privacy. All the calculation happens in your browser. Your racks and words are never uploaded, and the tool keeps working offline once the word list is loaded.
- Learning. Every result shows a per-tile breakdown so the number is never a black box. Read the scoring guide to go deeper.
