Is the Scabblesque Score Optimizer free to use?
Yes. The optimizer and every guide on the site are free to use. The site is supported by advertising, which you can control from the cookie settings.
How does the optimizer calculate a word score?
It sums the point value of each tile, applies any letter multipliers (double or triple letter) to the tiles that sit on them, multiplies the running total by any word multipliers (double or triple word), and adds a 50-point bonus when you use all seven tiles in one turn.
How are blank tiles scored?
A blank is entered as a question mark. It can stand in for any letter to complete a word, but it always scores zero points. The optimizer assigns blanks to the letters where they cost you the fewest points.
Which dictionary does it use?
You can choose between a large Tournament (TWL) word list of roughly 170,000 words and a curated Everyday list of about 9,800 common words. Both ship with the site, so results are consistent and work offline once loaded.
Does the tool play a full Scrabble board?
No. It maximises the score of a single word given your rack and the premium squares you pin. It does not model the full 15×15 grid or cross-words formed against existing tiles.
Do you store the racks or words I enter?
Your last setup is saved in your own browser using local storage so you can pick up where you left off. It is never sent to a server.
